Letter from the Secretary-General
Dear Delegates, Sponsors, Parents, and Teachers,
My name is Andy Moon and I am proud to serve as the Secretary-General of Township of Langley Model United Nations 2019. On behalf of our hardworking Secretariat Team, Staff Team and the Board of Directors, it is my honour to formally invite you our sixth iteration, held at the Township of Langley Civic Facility on June 8th, 2019.
As one of the oldest continuous day conferences in British Columbia, TOLMUN has been a platform for students across the Lower Mainland to showcase and improve their skillset in debate and diplomacy. At a median point between the urban centres of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, it has additionally become a pinnacle of networking and socializing amongst a variety of students. TOLMUN has always acted as a stepping stone for developing delegates to prepare for hotel conferences and international events.
Delegates of TOLMUN 2019 will be able to immerse themselves in lively situations. They will face ongoing conflicts across the world in the Disarmament and International Security Committee, support one another in the African Union, and take a role in simulated historical events within the Historical Joint Crisis Committee (HJCC). Participants of the conference will not be worrying about travel issues nor affordability, thanks to the launch of the TOLMUN bus service connecting all the way from the North Shore across the Metro Vancouver Region, while maintaining low costs for local and low-income students.
With the months of carefully-exercised planning and teamwork that has gone into this project, we are confident to prove TOLMUN 2019 as our best iteration yet and a quality conference which will raise the standard for all Model UN conferences in the Lower Mainland.
I am excited to greet you on April 27th. Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Andy K.R. Moon
